1.The historical importance of this site:اهمیت این سایت اینترنتیIrannostalgia.com aims to function as a reference encyclopedia of iranian 45rpm singles of iranian artists from before 1979. Irannostalgia (Irannostalgia.com or its different web addresses) collect scans of jackets ( Sleaves ) of old 1960's and 1970s iranian 45rpms from before the revolution (before 1979). Irannostalgia.com also collects scans (photo / image) of 70s original legal cassete jackets from select companies, including Caspian, Avang, CBS Iran and Jahan Music. Irannostalgia.com is also interested in rare TV music footage from before 1979. For a definition on what is considered "rare" read further down in this FAQ. Irannostalgia.com also collects rare (lost) audio sound samples (less than 30 seconds) of recordings not re-issued on CD's. Irannostalgia.com is of great historical and cultural importance. Many of the recordings being documented in irannostalgia.com reference are rare and no longer available and their jackets completely lost. It is essential that they get referenced and a short sample made available as a historical document. Not maintaining such a reference document would mean the loss of the cultural history of those decades in Iran. The importance of irannostalgia.com goes beyond the farsi language population of the world. It reflects important political and cultural changes of the second half of the 20th century in Iran. It saves in a very beautiful way, aspects of the cultural history of two very interesting decades in Iran. The current totalitarian religious government of Iran has been trying to erase the historical memory of the country. They have especially been interested in deleting the memory of the pop culture that existed in Iran before 1979. It is of great cultural importance to save the original artwork of those 45rpms, as well as the lost recordings. The artwork in many cases, included iranian women with clothing and makeup of the time without being covered-up ( Hejab ) and with clothing that symbolized the decade of the 1960s and 70s in Iran. They are ironically symbolic of the cosmopolitan atmosphere of that period. If it isnt because of the efforts of irannostalgia.com these record jackets and pictures would have been lost. This is because the current religious ayatollah government of Iran and their horrible policies after 1979 has prohibited this material and has made it illegal to sell them or to try to take them outside the country. It is even illigal to ship this material outside iran. Unlike in the west, where it is possible to find second hand records on internet stores, in Iran it is not possible to purchase second hand 70s vinyl records from the internet. They are not even allowed to ship these overseas. It has been a goal of the totalitarian religious regime of Iran after 1979 to destroy this music, any images relating to it and most importantly, destroy the historical memory of that period of time in Iran. It is important that all of you help this site. This way we do not allow the totalitarian religious regime to destroy our history, relating in this case, to the pop culture of the Iran of the 1960s and 1970s as well as social liberties existing during that period. Irannostalgia.com has tried to rescue as much of this part of the iranian heritage. Even inside Iran the private collection of people who are connected to the internet is small. This is partly because its mainly young people who were not even born when these records originally came out, that are connected to the internet and these young people are mostly interested in western or new material. Then there is the previously mentioned problem that there is no internet store to buy these records from. Therefore, if you or anyone you know has a collection or old iranian 45rpms or original cassettes or unreleased on video rangarang videos, consider scanning your collection and sending it to irannostalgia.com. If the few people remaining, that still have these records at home do not collaborate, then there will be little hope to further complete and elaborate this archive. - You can use your scanner to scan the cover (image) of the record or tape. If you do not have a scanner, you can take a picture, preferably under the sun, with a digital camera of the jacket!. Email me the picture / scan. You do not have to send the record by airmail. Additionally, because I display these record sleaves together with a short audio sample, it would be great if you could also send a short digital file of the audio of the song. It does not have to be the whole song. For example, you can email me 50 seconds of the song, starting from where the singer starts to sing! - If you send material to this site, do not re-send it to other sites. This is because it takes lot of work to put this material on the web and its rude that after all the work of publishing the material you submit the material to other sites.

9. I do not publish full names of colaborators or their email address
Several colaborators in the past have asked me to publish their full names or email adresses. Experience has showed me that it is not a good idea for irannostalgia.com to do that. I will only publish your first name. Since I live outside iran, my private collection does not grow since I do not have access to Baazar stores. I depend on colaborators like you. In the past, when a colaborator asked for the email of another colaborator, I would give it to them. But what happened was that, they start sharing between themselves and forget about irannostalgia.com. Obviously I cannot compete with them since I'm not inside iran and I dont have as much material. In return, however I always tell to the contributing colaborators: If you have a request, let me know, and I'll pass the information to the other colaborators.

It takes hours of searching in stores, spending money, writing letters sending international packages, begging and more begging to obtain these rare items that I put on this site. Therefor I have to be protective of the material of this site. The whole point of this site is that I am archiving extremely rare material which is on the verge of getting lost forever. Naturally it takes an enormous effort to obtain this material and we will fight anyone who steps over our work and our efforts by simply copying the material of this site.

من آرچیو بسیار بزرگی دارم تا هدی که برای 100 سال دیگر مطلب دارم. ولی وقتی مطلب جدیدی از دوست میرسد همیشه نمیتوانام بزود و در همان هفته آن مطلب را بذارم رو سایت. دلیلش این هست که شاید از آن خاننده تازگی گذشته بودم رو سایت و باید به هنرمندان دیگر هم رسید. یا اینکه همکارهای دیگری هم همون هفته مطلبی برام فرستادند یا اینکی خودم مطلبی متزر داشتم برای انتشار . به همین دلیل اگر مطلبی میفرستید، بدونید که ازشون استفاده خواهد شد، فقط که اجلهیی نیست. لطفا هل نکنید یا نا امید نشوید.

Video NMP ايران For those of use who collect rare material from iran's 1970s music scene, we know that there are video clips from the Rangarng show available with poor quality from two companies: Chehrehnama and ParsVideo. However, recently some Rangarang clips are showing up on the internet that were not available previously from those mentioned companies. These newly discovered RANGARANG clips have a logo saying NMP or sometimes N.M.P I have seen clips from Homeira, Mahasti and Haideh so far with this logo... When asked, the poeple posting these videos said that they copied them from a VCD on a trip to Iran. Someone suggested NMP is based in Pakistan. Does anyone know how I can get these VCD's from NMP?
