A while back I had the idea of creating tshirts for irannostalgia.com. Two attempts were made previously with online sites that take any image you give them and create a tshirt for those who want to buy the design uploaded. Unfortunatelly the quality of the print on the tshirts for such sites like cafepress are really poor. When you go to their sites, the pictures look great, but those pictures you see are not real tshirts; they are fake images. They create a photoshop image by overlaying the image sent on an image of a tshirt.
The actual tshirt looks terrible with the image being poorly photocopied on the tshirt and offcourse it fades after couple of washes. Because of this, I stopped promoting such sites. Then I learned of a technique called professional plot printing where logos are cut out by a machine and melted on to the tshirt. This creates a vibrant high quality everlasting design on a tshirt. It doesnt wash out, it is non fading and its store quality. Its similar to the system used for tshirts like "A-style", etc. So its completely durable and feels soft and smooth and great. Its vibrant. So after many many attempts I finally created an irannostalgia design suitable for plot printing. It has to be a special design based on curves!! Then it took a very long time finding a place that created the tshirts with the plot printing system. Finally I found a great place in Madrid that creates the shirts for me using the Plot ( Flock ) printing technique which in Spain is known as "vinilo textil" (literally: vinyl logo on textile ). The result looks awsome. I was positively overjoyed when I picked up the shirt. I couldnt believe how cute it looked. It looks vibrant and feels smooth, light and great. The design is based on the yello tax side of the iranian 45rpms. Those where the vezarat-e daraii (tax department) logo that was imposed on the record companies. The colors were adapted to Irans red and green colors. The lion and sword logo and the 30 rial and "gandom" on my final design are extremely nostalgic.
